Making Lab-in-the-Loop Drug Discovery Accessible Across the Industry
Drug discovery is no longer confined to one lab bench or one building—it’s a global logistics challenge that often slows down innovation. Ginkgo Datapoints, Inductive Bio, and Tangible Scientific are changing that. Together, we’re connecting AI-driven design, streamlined compound management, and rapid experimental profiling into one lab-in-the-loop workflow—helping scientists iterate faster, cut costs, and focus on what matters most: discovering new treatments for patients.
Drug discovery is changing fast. The old model—scientists sketching molecules on a whiteboard, then heading down the hall to synthesize and test them—has been replaced by a far more complex, global process. Today, compounds move across vendors, geographies, and digital systems, often introducing costly delays and making it harder to take advantage of modern AI-driven design tools.
At Ginkgo Bioworks, we believe it’s time for a better way. That’s why our Datapoints offering is partnering with Inductive Bio and Tangible Scientific to make AI-driven, lab-in-the-loop drug discovery broadly accessible. By linking together model-driven design, seamless compound management, and rapid experimental profiling, we’re creating a connected workstream where in-silico designs can move straight into lab validation—and results can flow right back into predictive models.
The result? Fewer synthesis cycles, faster turnaround times, and lower overall costs in early-stage development.
What Each Partner Brings
-
Ginkgo Datapoints: rapid ADME profiling that delivers high-quality readouts—including microsomal stability, kinetic solubility, P450 inhibition, permeability, and optional in vitro toxicity—on both leads and library-scale compound sets. Our platform runs on in-house lab automation, data infrastructure, and fast US-based logistics from Boston’s biopharma hub.
-
Tangible Scientific: a tech-enabled compound management platform that orchestrates secure storage, handling, and movement of customer compounds. Through Tangible’s API-enabled pipeline, researchers can order Ginkgo’s ADME services directly from their digital environments, track results in real time, and access metadata-rich assay outputs in days, not weeks.
-
Inductive Bio: the Compass platform, which helps chemists explore and rank new designs with ADMET prediction models trained on a broad consortium dataset. Those digital designs can then be validated experimentally at Ginkgo and Tangible, with results feeding back into the models to continuously improve predictive accuracy.
Together, these capabilities create a lab-in-the-loop cycle: predictive chemistry models drive design, logistics seamlessly connect compounds to assays, and experimental results come back fast enough to inform the next design iteration.
Why This Matters
Drug discovery has always been iterative—but iteration slows down when logistics and data silos get in the way. By aligning design, experiment, and data delivery into a single connected process, we can reduce the time and uncertainty in preclinical development, while also supporting FDA priorities such as:
- Faster and more efficient development timelines
- Onshored manufacturing and services
- Expanded use of AI tools in early-stage R&D
- Non-animal approaches in preclinical testing
As John Androsavich, General Manager at Ginkgo Datapoints, put it:
“By tightly coupling model-driven design with streamlined logistics to deliver AI/ML-ready assay data in real-time, we’re making it easier for scientists to iterate quickly, take advantage of cutting-edge digital tools, and focus on what they do best — discovering treatments for patients.”
Availability
The integrated service is available today. It’s designed for pharmaceutical and biotech teams that want to accelerate ADMET optimization, improve iteration speed, and cut costs across their portfolios.
